OC Animal Care is contracted by 14 cities.

Each city is billed per animal they intake, for their boarding, the food, the veterinary care and any additional expenses.

The money comes from the cities, your taxes. Please let your city officials know that you are not happy with the way your taxes are being used. You are unhappy with the animal shelter and the way the shelter administration runs the place.

We implore each and every one of you to take a stand and email the individuals in charge, demanding immediate action to rectify the current deplorable state of the shelter. Our hearts ache as we witness the suffering of innocent animals within OC Animal Care.

OCAC is overseen by OC Community Resources, which falls under the supervision of Deputy County Executive Officer Lilly Simmering. She, in turn, reports to County Executive Officer Frank Kim, who then answers to the Board of Supervisors. Beyond this, our elected officials, including Assemblywoman Cottie, Senator Min, and Congresswoman Kim, have a role to play. To find the most updated list on our local government and when meetings are taking place, please visit https://www.ocshelter.com/local-government-info

Picture this: A frightened stray cat, left to roam the streets, seeking shelter and warmth. It's a cold, lonely night, and there's no one to offer a comforting hand or a warm meal. This cat isn't alone; there are countless others like it, abandoned, neglected, and vulnerable.

We've seen the heart-wrenching consequences of OC Animal Care's decisions. Their termination of the TNR program, the halt of low-cost/no-cost spaying and neutering services, and the refusal of healthy stray cats have unleashed a wave of suffering. Residents are advised to abandon these cats or displace them, perpetuating the cycle of despair. It's a cycle we cannot simply adopt our way out of.

These animals depend on us, on you, to be their voice, their advocates for justice and compassion. Please, let your outrage and love for animals guide you. Email those in power, tell them about the anguish we witness daily, and urge them to act swiftly.

Prevention is our duty. Why should Orange County residents be forced to travel to neighboring counties for spaying and neutering services, while we, as a community, turn our backs on these innocent lives? Together, we can make a difference. Let us unite, amplify our voices, and demand change now.
